Nationwide Online Apartment Listing Service, ApartmenTime.com is Working With Officials to locate Available Housing for Victims of Hurricane Katrina

Sylmar, CA (PRWEB) September 2, 2005

Nationwide online apartment listing service, ApartmenTime.com is working with officials to locate available housing for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

With hundreds of thousands left homeless, ApartmenTime.com, a nation-wide apartment listing service is working in conjunction with Louisiana officials to compile a list of clean, safe, available and affordable housing in the areas surrounding those most affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Residents of the Gulf Coast states most severely affected by Hurricane Katrina and their relatives anywhere in the U.S. are being asked to search online at Apartmentime.com for an up to date list of residential communities that may have available apartments for rent.

ApartmenTime.com is actively contacting Real Estate Investment Firms and Property Management firms in an attempt to put together a list that can serve those in need of this life saving information.

“This ongoing tragedy will affect countless thousands of people. One thing that they’ll all need is a location where they can go and search for available suitable living situations. This is why we at ApartmenTime.com are offering our service to the community as well as the property owners free of charge,” explains Darren Rogers, President of ApartmenTime.com

ApartmenTime.com, a Los Angeles-based on line publisher of available apartments, servicing the entire United States, is removing all current listing in the Gulf Coast areas and will only post apartments with available units in the surrounding areas. This is a free service for both the property owner and the potential tenant.

“Providing this information free of charge via our Web site is one small way in which we can reach out to people who are and will be in dire need of housing.”

ApartmenTime.com has been listed in the Louisiana Governor’s Book of Resources as a valuable link to new homes for displaced families.

Because those searching for housing for relatives in the affected areas only source of information is via TV and Radio, we are requesting that both mediums begin informing the public of this free service being offered to help those in need.

The online apartment search is simple to navigate and those searching for apartments can select any geographic area of the United States in their search for a new temporary or permanent home. “We want this to be an easy process; these people need homes quickly, and ApartmenTime.com is structured to allow them to locate a new affordable home quickly and easily”.

The ApartmenTime.com Web site includes information on apartments for rent, military, college, corporate, senior as well as HUD housing, and provides numerous features to help residents set up their new apartment, including information on utilities, cable, telephone hook-up and local services.

Displaced residents can log on to http://www.apartmentime.com immediately and begin searching for a new dwelling.

"A Nation Mourns" Online Exhibit Documents the Corporate Web's Response to the September 11th Attacks

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 25, 2011

As the world prepares to mark the ten-year anniversary of September 11th, a new online exhibition offers a look back at the response of the corporate world in the week following the shocking terrorist attacks of 2001, through the lens of their corporate and brand homepages. Created by Jeff Greenhouse, A Nation Mourns (http://www.aNationMourns.org) documents the public messages and sentiments of over 100 major corporations and brands, as delivered through their corporate homepages. This exhibit offers a fascinating look at the beginnings of branded social communication.

"The world changed on September 11, 2001. So did the corporate world's desire to communicate directly to the public, " said Greenhouse. "This gallery documents the groundbreaking use of corporate homepages as a direct outlet for the people and emotion behind the brands. "

Although direct, open dialogue is commonplace today, in 2001 corporations and brands primarily communicated to the public through press releases and advertising campaigns. The public sentiments and messages on display at A Nation Mourns predate virtually all corporate social media, coming before the launch of Friendster (2002), MySpace (2003), Facebook (2004) and Twitter (2006). They convey sentiments of shock, condemnation, support, hope, solidarity and sympathy.

The exhibit also serves as a retrospective of 2001-era website design. With the recent celebration of the 20th anniversary of the very first website, the designs on display in the gallery represent the exact midpoint of World Wide Web history. Companies included in the gallery come from diverse industries including fashion, finance, technology, retail, entertainment and food.

Self Storage Unit Reservations Now Available Online from StorageFront

Kansas City, KS (PRWEB) August 17, 2010

StorageFront, a leading web marketer for the self storage industry, has added an Application Programming Interface (API) to its Web platform, allowing for storage unit rentals online. Renters now have the ability to book a rental online, while storage facility owners can now change pricing and track reservations in real time.

James Hanrahan, senior vice president of A-American Self Storage, believes that his customers looking for self storage are no different than any other consumers. They want to know the price; they want to know the product in this case, the space and they want to book it now.

I think if you cant solve the problem 100 percent right there on your website, Hanrahan said, theyll move onto the next website.

Welcome to the world of API, where a couple clicks and a credit card can get you just about anything from books to concert tickets to, yes, even a storage unit.

When a renter searches for a storage space, API makes it possible for them to see what units are available and get real-time pricing, as the prices of units often change day to day. Once a renter books a unit, API takes that unit off the market and automatically updates the reservation in the storage facilitys management software.

With the Internet in general, regardless of what industry it is, everything is trending more towards integration and communication across platforms, said David Howe, Project Development Director at StorageFront. FaceBook has all these widgets now that you can integrate on your own website. Its all about using APIs to communicate across platforms.

The API is an alternative to the more traditional options of renting a storage unit. On StorageFront, the site still gives renters a local phone number to call if the renter would prefer to speak with the manager rather than reserve online.

StorageFront president Rich Cray said many people still prefer the human element of ordering in person or over the phone. API does not entirely remove interaction from the process. For those who now rent online; they still have to go sign the lease in person.

Ive never been a believer in the fully-automated storage, said Bob Schoff, president of National Self Storage and former chairman of the National Self Storage Association. You need a person and a personality on the other end of the phone. I think its going to change somewhat, but I think people really like having someone there at the facility as a security benefit.

SpareFoot and USStorageSearch are other examples of self storage search engines that use API. On SpareFoot, users can only book an online reservation. On USStorageSearch, users can either book online or call a phone number that is listed.

StorageFront allows the facility to collect all of the rental and reservation fees, which therein allows the facility to charge lower prices for its storage unit rentals.

Its definitely a cost-saving benefit in that its part of the package, instead of being nickeled and dimed off of every rental that comes through, Hanrahan said.

Before API, the Internet had already changed the industry. Hanrahan said that he believes some people still search for storage in the Yellow Pages, but more and more are turning online.

And when they go online, they believe their time is precious. Not having API in the ever-changing world of the Internet and self storage would be like still using dial-up.

As everything is moving towards the Internet, we want to offer as many servicers to our customers as possible, Cray said. People want to be able to rent right here right now.

About StorageFront

Headquartered in Kansas City, Kan., StorageFront launched in 2009 to provide a web marketing resource for the self storage industry specificallywhich now numbers over 50,000 facilities nationwide and continues to appeal to the American population. Tablet Users More Likely to Shop Online than Smartphone Owners

(PRWEB UK) 2 September 2011

The results show that 30% of tablet users have used their device to shop online, whilst currently only 25% of smartphone owners have used their phone to do the same. Similarly, almost half (48%) of tablet owners have used their devices to research products in-store, whilst only 29% have done the same via their smartphone.

Derek Eccleston, Research Director at eDigitalResearch comments, Whilst tablet device ownership remains relatively low compared to the number of consumers with smartphones, it is clear that tablet owners have the willingness and confidence to shop online via their devices.

As we continue to be gripped by the MEcommerce revolution where the consumer now has the power to shop where, when and how they like its important that brands and retailers have a strong presence across a multitude of channels, making their products readily available to customers across a range of devices and platforms. Net-a-Porter, ASOS and eBay are just a handful of retailers that have successfully launched shopping related tablet apps in recent months as more and more retailers begin to understand emerging platforms and grasp consumer behaviour across various touch points.

The results also reveal the eagerness of consumers to start using their mobile devices more for everyday tasks, including in-store purchases. Of the 6,000 consumers surveyed, over one quarter (27%) said that they will be willing to use contactless mobile payment when available to them, and almost half (47%) of these would be willing to pay for goods up to the value of
